Do you know your birthstone? Mine is Aquamarine and although I have a ring, a pendant and a pair of earrings with this stone, my husband may beg to differ with those who proclaim it possesses the quality of bringing calm to the wearer. I just love perusing the lists of birthstones, traditional and modern, and reading about the qualities each gem is said to possess and thinking, wishing, it was always true!

Birthstones have long been a treasured gift. I received my first birthstone ring as a birthday gift from my grandparents when I was still in single digits. I loved that ring and all that it symbolized. In turn, my husband and I bestowed upon our daughter a birthstone ring of her own for her 16th birthday, when we knew she would be mature enough to treasure it and care for it properly.

While babies may be a bit young to be donning expensive jewelry, I’ve started to notice a trend in the stationery world that jives with my love of birthstones in an inexpensive and whimsical manner -rhinestone-studded announcements and invitations!

I think any of these birth announcements would be oh so chic with the added touch of a self-adhesive rhinestone. They’re available in a variety of colors and are very inexpensive, but they sure add that extra special touch!

For your entertainment, here is a list of the monthly birthstones, traditional and modern, and the characteristics they are said to bestow upon the wearer:
