What is Corner Copy?

“What exactly is a corner copy?” is a question our customers ask frequently as they work through the process of ordering their Bar Mitzvah Invitations.

The corner copy is typically placed on the bottom left-hand corner of the invitation or reception card. It can best be described as a footnote. The most common use for the corner copy is the RSVP information. Historically, the RSVP information included a phone number. Nowadays, many of our customers are including an email address as another method of responding.

You may also use the corner copy for your reception information. It’s also commonly used to politely let your guests know the appropriate attire for your event. If your Bar Mitzvah is going to be a very formal event, then adding “Black Tie” as a corner copy will be helpful to your guest as they decide what to wear. If your Bat Mitzvah celebration includes a pool party, then adding “Beach attire and bathing suits” would be appropriate.

A couple of suggestions when using a corner copy on your Bar Mitzvah invitation: If you are including an email address as a source for your guests to respond, it’s important to use a short, simple address. Long, complicated addresses with digits and letters combined in a unique sequence are more likely to be mistyped when your guest composes their response email. If you are using a script font for your invitation wording, you may want to consider how legible your email address will be in that particular font. If this is a concern, if most cases you can select another font for the email address or RSVP section of your invitation. Also, the use of a corner copy is not recommended with a tea-length invitation due to the narrow width of the invitation.

As always, we wish you success with the planning of your Bar or Bat Mitzvah.
