I remember when I was pregnant with my first child. He would be the first grandchild on both of our sides, and it made for a very filled postpartum room. The first in line waiting for him to arrive were his grandparents sitting not-so-patiently in the waiting room for the news. We even had a couple of them following my Doctor around to find out which room I was in. Come to find out they were listening right outside the door! Needless to say I wasnít thrilled about that, but it made me realize that they felt the same way I did about him and wanted so badly to be a part of his life from the moment they laid eyes on him.

My childrenís grandparents are as involved as they can be, whether itís their one day a week with them, celebrating special events/holidays with them, or just talking to them on the phone. It seems that most people that have children tend to move closer to their parents or vice versa so they have the opportunity to spend more time with their grandchildren. If there is one thing that I have noticed after having children of my own, itís that their grandparentsí love is unconditional and irreplaceable and they will do just about anything to be able to spend it with their grandchildren. We couldnít be more fortunate to have such wonderful, caring, involved grandparents for our children.

A couple of quotes I love -

Perfect love sometimes does not come until the first grandchild. ~ Welsh Proverb

The idea that nobody is perfect is a view most commonly held by people with no grandchild. ~ Doug Larson

I think these are the perfect quotes to describe a grandparentís love. There are so many things in this world that bring joy and happiness, but itís hard to beat the site of a tiny little new born baby. These precious little bundles of joy bring so much love not only to the parents, but grandparents, the instant they lay eyes on them. Grandparents are full of great devotion and loads of affection and all they want to do is share with the world the exciting news of the new arrival!

We all know that there is no one faster to the draw than a grandparent pulling out that little album of grandchildren photos and now that there are such cute grandparent announcements, you donít need to wait until you run into your friends at the supermarket to show off the new addition to your growing family!
