Teen Traditions Tuesday: Something To Feel Good About!
Ever wonder what your portion of the ingredients of the stew in the giant melting pot that is America is?
In the United States, the Hispanic population has consistently been increasing year after year. According to the census bureau between 2000-2006 Hispanics accounted for one-half of the nation’s growth and was more than three times (Hispanics 24.3%) the growth rate of the total population (61%).
"Economists agree that the U.S. Hispanic market is a major factor in the economy's renewed growth. Today, Hispanic purchasing power, household consumption and the entrepreneurial spirit of the nation's largest minority community are each playing increasingly vital roles in our economic prosperity” Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL) and CHC Chair stated.
With Hispanics being the largest and youngest minority group in the United States reports state that one out of every six teens in the U.S. is of Hispanic origin. With that growth rate, Quinceaneras are exploding which is helping the party planning services industry grow by leaps and bounds in the United States. This is just one of the many industries that have noticed an increase from the Hispanic population. Never before has a minority ethnic group made up so large a share of the youngest Americans. By numbers alone, the kinds of adults these young Latinos become will help shape the kind of society America becomes in the 21st Century.
There you go - Something to feel good about if you're a Hispanic teen in America!
